Motor Third Party Liability for Your Business

The insurance limits for Motor Third Party Liability Insurance for motorists are regulated in the Insurance Code.

For Accident insurance for persons in vehicles, the coverage is:

• 5112.92 euros for the driver's seat
• 1022.58 euros, 2556.46 euros or 5112.92 euros for each seat in the motor vehicle

The documents you'll need are identical, regardless of where and how you purchase the insurance policy – whether at a company office, through a broker, or online. The main things you'll need are the vehicle's small registration certificate and your identity card. To fill out the necessary documents, you'll need the certificate number and the car's registration number. You'll also need to provide additional information about the car, such as its year of manufacture, engine capacity, steering wheel position, and other details that affect the price of your insurance.

The insurance is valid for one year from the date of purchase and is then subject to renewal. If you are paying the insurance in several installments, you must be careful and monitor the payment of the next installment on the policy for it to remain valid. 

If you do not have valid insurance or if it has expired and you have not renewed it, you may be fined, and there is also a risk of being deprived of your right to drive a motor vehicle for a certain period.

You can check the validity of your Motor Third Party Liability insurance in the following ways:

• Check the policy – when the insurer provides a policy, it describes all important data, including the validity date;
• Look at the sticker on the car's windshield – the policy's validity date is also marked on the green sticker by perforation;
• Through the Guarantee Fund's website – if you don't have the above-mentioned documents proving validity at hand, you can always check online. You are required to enter the vehicle's registration number, and you will then receive information on whether the vehicle has valid insurance.

According to legislation, the sticker is a mandatory element. For the insurance to be valid, the sticker must be affixed to the lower left part of the vehicle's windshield. If the sticker is not affixed, the insurance is not considered valid, the driver is subject to a penalty, and it is also possible that coverage for damages may be refused in the event of an incident.

After the validity date indicated on the policy and the sticker, the insurance becomes invalid. The only possible overdue period and grace period is up to 15 days after the date on which you were supposed to pay a subsequent installment, if the policy is paid in installments. During this period, the policy is valid, but its payment is overdue, and if the due amount is not paid thereafter, the insurance is terminated.
