Your Mission
The future of insurance is digital, transparent, and customer-centric. At Groupama, we are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Legal Adviser to support our Legal Insurance litigations sector (Life & Non-Life), incl. participation in key projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a legal professional to gain high-visibility experience in a highly regulated sector, ensuring our court representation.
Your Mission
● Legal Representation: Act as the legal representative for the company before all levels of Bulgarian courts (involves occasional travel across the country).
● Case Management: Manage litigation cases from inception to final judgment, including drafting statements of claim, statements of defense, appeals, cassation appeals, and administrative objections.
● Claims Litigation Analysis: Analyze complex claim disputes for both Life (e.g., critical illness, accident, term life) and Non-Life (e.g., MTPL, Casco, Property, Cargo) insurance lines to evaluate litigation risks and financial exposure.
● Recourse & Subrogation: Initiate and manage recourse actions against third parties to recover paid insurance indemnities.
● Legal Strategy: Formulate effective defense and litigation strategies aligned with current Bulgarian court practice and jurisprudence. Collection of awarded amounts in won cases.
● Settlement Negotiations: Negotiate out-of-court settlements and draft settlement agreements when commercially and legally viable.
● Regulatory Alignment: Monitor changes in the interpretative judgments of the Supreme Court of Cassation and FSC.
Who Are You
● Formally Qualified: Master’s degree in law and Certificate for legal capacity.
● Experience: more than 2 years of hands-on experience in insurance litigation.
● Mobility: Willingness and flexibility to undertake occasional business travel for court hearings outside of Sofia.
● Linguistically Skillful: English.
